Star Quilt Finished

I did it!  I finished the quilting on my Star Quilt.  I wish it was 100% finished but I still need to do the binding…my least favorite part.

I have some pictures to share but please keep in mind they aren’t the best.  It was super windy today so getting outdoor pictures was a bit of a challenge.  I’ll try to get better pictures once the binding is on.

I hope you can see all the feathers.  There must be a million feathers. I think I’ll nickname this one “Death by Feathers.”  But hey, on the bright side, I can probably quilt feathers with my eyes closed.  I’ve had hours of practice.

I probably could have taken a picture of the whole star.  Not really sure why I cut off all the points.  Duh.

I’m not sure I absolutely love the corners but they are growing on me.  I had trouble deciding on what I should do.  As you can see…more feathers.

That’s my oldest goofball photo-bombing my quilt pictures.  She had to help hold the quilt down.  It was so windy it kept flying up in the air. She’s supposed to be behind the quilt…what a crazy girl.

Here’s a look at the back.  It’s a terrible picture but you get the idea.

And yet another picture with all the points chopped off.  Boy I was on a roll today.

That’s my binding rolled up all nice and neat.  It’s actually attached to the quilt now and ready to be stitched down.  Now if only I had a binding fairy……..

  1. I wish I lived near you! I would bind it in a heart beat! To me it is one if the most personal parts of quilting! I sit under it. Watch a movie. Think about who its for. Reflect! Its kind of spiritual! I guess maybe because everything else is done on the machine. But I think your feathers ARE AMAZING!!!!

  2. wow this is stunning, you did a fantastic job on this quilt. I love all the feathers, and the corner FMQ breaks it up and yet still gives it that added interest. So cool and wonderful. Your little helper is adorable.

  3. I love the colors you chose and you did an awesome job on the quilting. It’s good to see you back in the blogging world. 🙂 Can’t wait to see it with the binding on it.

  4. Your feathers are fabulous! It is hard to stop the flow to change thread colors, but you did a great job. I love your corners and I see Lisa Calle’s influence in your border – spectacular!! Did you use her rulers to do it?

  5. Absolutely love everything about your quilt! The colors, the quilting, the pattern, etc. I pinned the small pic you had up the other day, and at least 10 people have pinned it! I wouldn’t be so hard on yourself. I am going to pin the entire quilt when you are able to get the points on it. If you would rather I didn’t. email me and
    i won’t.
