Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day

Hello hello!  I’ve been absent lately because I’ve been quilting like a crazy woman.  I finished a quilt this morning that I affectionately nick named “The King Kong Quilt.”  I feel that’s very appropriate since it measures in at 102″ by 114.”  I think it’s the biggest quilt I’ve quilted to date.  It took me 5 days and I’m so so so happy I finished it today. Did I say I’m happy?  Super happy!  I’ll have pictures soon once the rain stops.

Speaking of rain I just have to share that last Tuesday my family and I spent about an hour in our neighbor’s tornado shelter!  The sirens in town went off and my heart sank.  We didn’t waste any time high tailing it next door to safety.  A small tornado did touch down but it was at least a couple miles away.  Thanking God that my family and neighbors and everyone in town was safe.  I don’t care to do that ever again!

Ok, now lets have some fun and have a giveaway.  I’m changing things up and giving away something I’ve never done before….a Quilting gift certificate valued at $50.

You can read all about Owlene, my whole cloth creation,  here.

The winner can apply the certificate toward my quilting services.  Please note, the certificate will expire 6 months from the date of issue.  You can check out some of my quilting here.  Good luck everyone and don’t forget to check out all the other giveaways at Sew Mama Sew.

To enter please leave a comment and tell me anything.  Well, anything nice.  For an extra chance you can tweet the giveaway or share on Facebook.  The giveaway is open until midnight on May 16th.  I hope you all have a great day!

  1. Nice giveaway! I have a couple quilts that I’m hesitant to FMQ so would love to win this and send them to you and your capable hands!

  2. Oh, wow! I would love to win your long arm services! As for something nice… I had the best Mother’s Day this year! My daughter’s 1st Grade class invited all of us mommies to lunch. They sang songs, gave us gifts and showered us with attention. It was so sweet!

  3. OMGoodness, pick me, pick me!! My daughter was married 2 years ago, and I have yet to get her queen size english paper pieced grandmother’s garden quilt finished. I hand pieced it and really wanted to get special work done on it. Even if I don’t win, Im still glad to meet you and will keep you in mind. Happy giveaway week.

  4. I love to have different people quilt for me. I had the most wonderful Mother’s Day weekend with my daughter’s family (boy those grandkids wore me out) and learned the nextr grandbabe is – A GIRL!! The first girl – so many boys. Yeah, I can sew something girly!!

  5. I have 2 General’s Wives quilts that need to be done, that would be a nice dent in the quilting cost and I know they would be BEAUTIFUL! They are also queen/king quilts….

  6. What a great giveaway! I would love to have a quilt finished for my daughter’s nursery! Thanks for the opportunity. 🙂 coralbunnyandlo [at] gmail [dot] com

  8. First thing I want to say I’m glad there wasn’t any damage to your neighborhood and that all are safe! Next ..what a great giveaway! I only have about 20 tops to be quilted!

  9. Something nice? Your giveaway is something nice: it might allow a charity quilt to receive extra-special treatment. It’s kind of you to give of yourself on Giveaway Day.

  10. I feel like it has been ages since I have heard anything from you? So happy to see all of your quilty loveliness, you do a beautiful job!

  11. This is really a great giveaway and I’m sure we are all hoping to win this wonderful gift card. I know I am, especially since I’m scared to death to attempt to FMQ on my own.
    Thanks for this opportunity.

  12. Expires in 6 months? No problem here as I have a closetful of tops that are ready to be shipped off for quilting! Thanks for a generous giveaway!

  13. What a fantastic giveaway. I have just the quilt in mind if I am the lucky winner. It’s a quilt for my mom that was finished way, way too long ago.

  14. I had to laugh out loud when I read “anything nice”! Good one! Let’s see. Good things about today: I’m wearing my new wedges that I got for Mother’s Day and not only are they cute but they are comfortable. I’m reading blogs and eating enchiladas during my lunch hour. Today is choir practice and that’s always fun. Our son is coming home for Memorial Day weekend. That’s it! Thanks for the chance to win.

  15. I arrived home from work and my new midarm quilter arrived. I don’t expect to do what you do, but I’m hoping to have fun and finish a few more projects.
    I admire your talent.

  16. Great giveaway! I have about 4 quilts that still need to be quilted and I’m way too intimidated by FMQ to do it myself. Thanks for the chance to win.

  17. I have a queen quilt top that I have never managed to quilt and that I have major quilt guilt going over… this would be so fantastic to win !

  18. I do like that owl, reminds me a bit of the early Tula Pink lines 🙂 I’ve never had a quilt of mine professionally done, I think that’d be great.

  19. Great giveaway! I haven’t had anything professionally quilted yet–have only done small quilts so far, though I’m working on a couple of bigger ones that I won’t be able to quilt myself. Thanks for the chance to win!

  20. My Gram and I were talking about how much quilts on Etsy go for and how I could probably make money if I made some and sold them. She said that I would probably want to get someone to quilt it for me (I don’t machine quilt and I don’t have a machine that really could). I hadn’t thought of searching online (I was going to try the quilt shop or the phone book – sorry, I’m kind of old school!)

  21. Oh, my, Owlene is absolutely beautiful!!! Your heart must have almost stopped when you found the fabric backing bled. So thankful for the color catchers!

  22. I love your choice for a giveaway! I’m doing a Row-Along now with a long-distance friend and looking forward to the next assignment.

  23. I’ve never sent my quilts away to be quilted… I’d love to, but it’s so expensive! Worth it totally, but I just can’t afford it. Glad you were safe from the tornado!

  24. Heavens, would I like to win this one. I have so many tops waiting to be quilted that I’ll never get them all done. I peeked at your work, and it is beautiful.

  25. Hi, I think I just finished hand-piecing the SUPER King Kong quilt! It measures about 118″ x 128″ and is definitely the biggest quilt I have ever made. I might have to send this one out to be quilted as I have never home-machine quilted one this size! It is almost 4,000 hand-pieced 1″ hexagons with a hand-pieced border.
    Thanks for the giveaway,
    Jacqueline in Pitt Meadows
