Worldwide Quilting Day plus a Giveaway

Well it appears that I’ve quickly turned into a once a month kind of blogger.  Unfortunately, I was pretty sick for most of February which really sucked all the energy right out of me.  But I’m finally healthy again and back to work.

Happy Worldwide Quilting Day!!

How will you all be spending your day?  I plan on quilting as soon as I get finished writing this post.  I have several charity quilts I need to work on for my local guild.  We’re trying to donate at least 75 quilts to a local children’s shelter.

I’ve been playing around with Roscoe and some new thread.  I thought I would share a couple pictures to possibly inspire you all to go quilt on Worldwide Quilting Day.  By the way, the variegated thread is Superior Threads So Fine 40 and it is awesome.  Seriously.  It’s my new favorite thread.

Since we can all agree I’m a terrible blogger lately, I thought you might like to follow me on Instagram too.  You can click the little icon below (I’ve also added it to my sidebar).  My Instagram ID is ruebelv.

I haven’t been on Instagram long but it’s a great way for me to easily share pics of current projects.  It’s fast and I can snap pics with my phone as I’m quilting.  Works out great for me because deep down inside I’m a little lazy.  However, I AM going to make an effort to blog at least 2 to 3 times a week.  I know it should be more but let’s face it, that’s probably my limit.

Do you think I forgot I mentioned a giveaway in the post title?  We can’t celebrate Worldwide Quilting Day without a giveaway.  But what should we giveaway?  How about an awesome Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks Volume 8 and a charm pack of Barcelona by Zen Chic?  And I might even throw in a little something extra.

All you need to do to enter is leave a comment and tell me a fun fact about yourself.  Here’s one for me…I was an exchange student my junior year of high school.  I was lucky enough to spend a whole year in Norway! I would love to go back someday.

If you would like another chance to win you can follow me on Instagram. Make sure you leave a separate comment telling me you are now following me.

I’ll use Mr. Random to pick a winner on Monday.  Good luck!

Now go quilt something on this special holiday just for us!

  13. What interesting fun facts you all are posting! I was born in Wyoming in an Indian Reservation Hospital – because it was the only hospital in the area. I collected rocks as a child and had an amazing trunk full, which I had to leave behind when we moved to WA at age 9. I’d love to go back and visit Wyoming…sigh.

  14. So happy that you are feeling better, miss your posts. Fun fact:
I am a farmer’s daughter and proud of it. Quilter since 1965, too.

  15. Wow, Norway…..what an awesome opportunity. I was a go-go dancer in 1966 with a good friend whose boyfriend had a band. We made our own outfits. It was a lot of fun. I still love to dance at almost 64 years young. Thanks for opportunity to win your giveaway. I follow you via email at 2bquilting247 at hotmail dot ca.

  16. In grade school my nickname was “Beanie”, and to this day my best friend from school still calls me that, as do her mother, father, sister, aunt, cousins, etc. It makes me smile to hear them say it.

  17. thanks for this wonderful chance. Hmm a fun fact about me!!!Oh I know, I was in 4-H as a kid. I was in equestrian, and I did barrel racing. Wow that was a rush in itself.

  18. Glad you’re better! I tried stand-up paddleboarding last summer and really enjoyed it (and I’m not particularly athletic or coordinated!). Many thanks!

  19. Back in the olden days, I had a Pen Pal from Norway. As I recall, she lived in Oslo, and it was fun to exchange letters. More recently we hosted exchange students from Switzerland and Sweden, and it was fun for all of our family. Great programs!

  20. Something nobody knows about me…I can read upside down and read really fast, even cursive writing. I also couldn’t even sew a straight line in Home Ec and failed the class.

  21. I don’t really have a fun fact, but this is more of an awesome fact: I saved my brother’s life back in 1996 through a bone marrow transplant. And I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

  22. I am going to be a Great Grandma of 6! 5 boys and the new one is a girl. I am very excited for that. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!

  23. I am a pretty dull person – nothing very interesting – I used to raise and show rabbits – netherland dwarfs with my daughters.

    Thank you!

  24. Wow – a whole year in Norway during high school! I’m not sure this is all that interesting, but my first name was changed when I was 2 years old. Apparently I wouldn’t answer to the original one!

  25. I love the quilting! I don’t really have any interesting facts about me, but I asked my husband what I should say, and he said I have a squishy eye. When I rub it, it makes a squeaky sound. It grosses my kids out! Sorry if I grossed you out! 🙂

  26. I worked part-time while in high school in the hospital laboratory and went to college for a degree as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. For my entire life I’ve only worked in a medical laboratory.

  27. Thanks for a great giveaway. I live in an English city which has a cathedral and a castle which are both over a 1000 years old. I also lived in France for 18 months when I was younger.
