Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day

Well in true Vicki fashion I’m a day late in joining the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day {tons of bloggers have already linked up}.  But…before I post about giveaway day I need to say Thank You! Thank you to each and every one of you for all the comforting comments regarding the passing of my beloved Granny.

I was unable to attend the funeral services due to the terrible winter weather that blessed Missouri and even us here in Texas.  I’m was so sad that I couldn’t make it home but travel just wasn’t an option.  We’ll be going home for Christmas in a couple weeks {fingers and toes crossed the snow doesn’t show up again} and I know mom will need me then.

I didn’t answer your beautiful comments because every time I tried, I teared up.  It’s incredibly hard to type when you can’t see.  But please know that I read each and every one, more than one time in most cases.  I appreciate it so very much.

If you are stopping by for the first time today, Welcome!  I’m so happy to meet you.  I used to blog on a regular basis but life got in the way and I got off track.  I’m trying very hard to get back on track but life keeps throwing me curve balls.  Alas, maybe things will soon get back to normal…whatever that may be.

In the mean time, I love to quilt on Roscoe {my Gammill} and design patterns.  So today for the giveaway I’ve decided to giveaway 2 of my favorite patterns, Texas Teardrops and Starburst.

Texas Teardrops
Starburst

I hope you will take a minute to have a look around our blog and stop by again sometime.

All you need to do to enter is leave us a comment and tell us what’s on your quilting wish list for Christmas.  I’ll start…I would love some new rulers for Roscoe.  I love gadgets.

I’ll randomly select a winner on December 14th.  Good luck!

  1. Oh, Vicki, I was so sorry to learn of your loss. I am traveling and haven’t been able to read many blogs, but please know you are in my heart. I love your quilts and even had to pin the second one to my pinterest board so I could ooh and aah over it later!! For Christmas, I would like a new 6″ square rule.

  2. Sorry to hear about your loss, It is hard to have this happen anytime, especially at the holidays. I found out I WILL be getting a new iron (just in time). Your quilt work is so great. I Love Texas Teardrops. I am happy to follow you on Bloglovin. Merry Christmas. crystalbluern at onlineok dot com

  3. That’s so hard! I hope the weather cooperates with you. There’s nothing like the arms of loved ones.
I love your Texas Teardrops. So thanks for the chance!

  4. Sorry to hear about your granny. Glad you are back to almost blogging!

This Christmas I want a sewing/embroidery machine, yeah I know I’m stretching big! Maybe one day. 🙂

  5. I think I would just like my longarm to get set up for Christmas…its been sitting way too long unassembled and I need to learn to use it! I would so love to win the Texas Teardrops pattern, its such a pretty quilt!

  6. Hi Vicki! So sorry to hear of the loss of your Granny. I’m on my third Texas Teardrops now, and thanks to your wonderful pattern, there are several hanging around my community. Every student I had completed their tops (I saw a couple show up at the local fall fairs)and all love them! My Christmas wish list is totally focussed on gadgets as I’ve just become the very proud, and still disbelieving owner of a Gammill Classic Plus! I don’t have her yet, still waiting on the delivery date, but she’s bought and paid for and her name is Louise (after my mom).

  7. Sorry for your loss!
I know this Texas weather has been a surprise this year! I live smack dab in teh middle and we got ice and some flurries but nothing as bad as in Dallas area!
Here’s praying the weather is great for traveling at Christmas!!!

  8. Oh my – I LOVE Texas Teardrops! What a gorgeous quilt!

I’m hoping for some new rulers and a bobbin holder (new fabric is always nice too!).

Sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother.

  9. So sorry for your pain. I hope the weather cooperates with you for Christmas. Your quilts are just beautiful, so bright. I really love the Texas Teardrops. I would love to make it but not sure I’m talented enough. I want fabric for Christmas, lots and lots of fabric!

  10. My wish list is pretty simple, a light box, would make my days easier and far more enjoyable than using the window which I have to clean when I trace, the downside to this is I have one sparkling window compared to the others hahahahah.

  11. Vicki I am sorry to hear about your Grandmother. I haven’t been online as much as usual. I had surgery on Friday. I know your mom will be glad to have you home for Christmas. Here’s praying that you will have peace and tranquility to deal with all of this. I am wanting a new seam ripper myself for Christmas. O love your Texas teardrop quilt. It is amazeing.

  12. Oh how I wish Santa would bring me a longarm and a new room large enough to put it in!
I am very sorry about your Grandmother but glad you will be able to go home for Christmas. Texas Tear Drops is a great quilt.

  13. I don’t think anyone would know what quilting things to buy for me – my family aren’t really interested in it. But if I am given any money for christmas, I’m sure I’ll buy myself some more fabric and wadding.

  14. Oh, Vicki, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Somehow it is always harder during the holiday time. May the cyber hugs, prayers and love from your faithful followers bring you some degree of peace. Enjoy your time at home with mom. (((((hugs))))
Quilting wish…I just need to learn how to use all the tools I have, both for piecing as well as all my longarm tools!! I have your patterns, so pick someone else if you happen to pick my number! Bless you.

  15. I love rulers too! My Nolting’s name is “23”. 23 would love more toys like pattern template boards from Circle Lord. Thanks for the chance to win your beautiful patterns!

  16. I’m sorry for your loss. I am reading this today as I was just thinking of my grandfather that I
lost 10 years ago just after my daughter turned one. It is difficult but time does make things softer, easier.

I have been admiring your teardrops quilt for a while now. It is gorgeous!

  17. I’m sorry for te loss of your beloved Granny. I lost mine in 1983 and still miss her. May your memories of her warm your heart. I love your Texas Teardrops and would love to make it someday. I would really love a new sewing machine but I will have to make do with what I have for now. Take care and hope you are able to travel for Christmas. My email is 2bquilting247 at hotmaildot ca. Thanks for the opportunity to win.

  18. I would love to win your Starburst pattern, as I already have the Texas Teardrops pattern. I should have the quilt done by now but I’ve only gotten as far as tracing and fusing to the teardrop fabric…nothing cut out yet. I hope I won’t be in trouble for leaving it like that for so long!

  19. Vicki… So sorry to hear of your Granny. God bless you and your family. I’m wishing for more lighting for my Janome and for a mini vacuum attachment too. Sending hugs… Karen

  20. Honestly, I really need some new thread. I’ve got to order some aurifil or some Superior in the near future. I never have the right color when I need it! Thanks for the chance to win 🙂

  21. Losing someone we love is always hard, but I think it’s hardest around the holidays. Hugs to you, and I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get to be there for your mom at Christmas.

As far as notions go … that’s hard to say because I feel like I’m in really good shape! I guess the only thing that would make my quilting life better right now (besides getting my mojo back!) would be a new quilting table for my machine. I’d settle for a fiberglass one (I had one for my old machine, and keep thinking I might look around for someone locally to resize it for me), but I would LOVE a drop in table. 🙂

  22. Sorry to learn of your Grandmother’s temporary farewell. And I do believe with all my heart that it’s only a temporary separation. Hope the weather is good when you head home as I’m sure you and your mom could use the comfort of each other right now.

As far as my list it contains a Hex N More ruler and a Bloc_Loc Square up Set of rulers. Love my rulers!

  23. I need some storage boxes for my overflowing thread collection. Thank you, too, for a great blog; it’s always a joy to read. Love those patterns of yours and would be thrilled to win.

  24. I love gadgets too and have a wall of shame to prove it, but they are sew much fun. My wish list is simple this year. Fabric, yards of it! I’m sorry you couldn’t get to your grandmother’s service. I’m sure it would have helped. I pray you can get there for Christmas.

  25. I have lots of gadgets and fabrics on my wishlist but mostly, I’d like my new sewing room set up and time to sew. I’ve not been able to sew since Oct 15 due to a remodel and it’s put me into terrible withdrawal. So Santa please give me lots of time for sewing this next year with plenty of pretty fabric to play with.

  26. I’m so sorry for your loss & I hope that the weather at will improve so that you can make it to be with your family then. I really like all sorts of clever quilty notions but I really need some new rulers! my favourite are all a bit past it. Thanks so much for the chance to win.

  27. Thank you so much for your kind giveaway, I’ve always loved Texas teardrops! it’s so lovely
I’d like a complete set of rulers, above all twister one

I wish you a nice Christmas, I see you’re so sad, but remember you’ve dear ones still close to you, think of this and this will make you happy
    With love and affection

  28. Rulers and templates would be on my wish list.
Both of these patterns are beautiful, I am amazed by the Texas Tear Drop, it reminds me of Christmas ornaments cascading down.
    Thank you for the chance:)
May the weather be more in your favour so you can get home.

  29. So sorry for your loss. This is my first time here and I have signed up for your blog. On my sewing wishlist is anything to do with sewing. I am a fairly new quilter and do not have a big variety of sewing items. Thanks you so much for the opportunity.

  30. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss, my prayers are with you.
I love your Texas Teardrops quilt, unfortunately I didn’t have the opportunity to join your QAL this summer, but I’ll be on next time. That’s all I wish for, a bit more time, but that’s hardly anything to complain about.
    Best wishes!

  31. So sorry for your loss. My own mom passed away recently.

I hope to get one or more angle rulers. I’m sure I’ll have to order them myself, because no one else understands! 🙂

  32. Well since I won’t be getting a longarm machine those hints fell on deaf ears, I am hoping I will get a hex and more and a side kick ruler

  33. I’m sorry to hear of your loss. Hugs.

I’m a new quilter and trying not to let more accessories take over my hobby space… so it would be nice to just get a gc to my local quilt shop!

  34. So sorry for the loss of your granny….. And the not being there part too. That’s tough. Lord willing you’ll make it home for Christmas.
For Christmas I want a flying geese ruler and a tri-recs ruler. And all my kids and grands to safely make it to my house for Christmas!!!

  35. I am sorry you couldn’t make it to your grandmother’s funeral that would have helped so much to be with family and friends. We were in Texas in November at the start of your cold weather and were very surprised at how cold it can be there.

  36. I have a quilt frame but use my sewing machine so have a 7″ window and it really doesn’t cut it, so…in my dream world I have a long arm quilter. A girl can always dream…..and dream……bahaha

  37. Sorry to hear about your loss. I’m in Texas too and know what you mean about the weather. 🙁

I am hoping for some fancy fabric scissors for Christmas!

  38. I think I want a ruler base and rulers for my long arm, I’m so new at this I’m not sure I’m ready, but I want to know what all the buzz is about.

  39. Sorry to hear about your Granny. Your mum will definitely need your support over the holidays, my mum still gets quite emotional about the loss of my omi over Christmas more than any other time.

The Texas Teardrops quilt is beautiful, I’d love to win that pattern!

  40. I know what you’re going through – somehow it’s even harder to lose a loved one this close to Christmas.

On my wish list are some sewing machine needles and fabric of course! Thanks for the giveaway

  41. I am hoping for the EQ7 software or perhaps a long arm but I already know that neither will be happening. Lovely patterns and your quilting the dizzying diamonds looks grand! Merry Christmas. Jane

  42. I would love to have a accuquilt go baby or big shot to cut my fabric. Since they dont sell elves to cut it out for me I thought this would be an appropriate gift

  43. The two patterns are wonderful. Would love to have them. My Christmas wish list consists of a long arm quilter and one of the fabric cutting machines. Thanks for the chance to win. katztoo1(at)frontier(dot)com

  44. So sorry for your loss, and the weather problems preventing you from going to funeral. I love the texas teardrops pattern. I want a Big A** ironing board “topper” for Christmas…but I think it’s doubtful my husband will find someone to make it in time!

  45. I am so sorry for your loss! 🙁 Thanks for still participating in the giveaway! I hope you get to participate in some of the blog hopping as well! Could cheer you up to win something fun! On my dream wish list is a Bernina 750qe (but that’s a biggggg dream). My more realistic wish list is a Modern Quilt mag subscription.

  46. thread, thread and more thread… I use so much sewing thread… have lots of fabric, just need more thead.. and some Accuquilt dies might be nice under the tree to.
