Project Quilting Challenge Blocks

The day after Christmas we were invited to our friends house for dinner.  We enjoyed a fantastic meal and a competitive {and slightly dangerous} game of spoons.  While we were there they showed us their newly remodeled bathroom.
I must say they did a spectacular job tiling the bathroom.  As I was admiring the tiles my quilting eyes spotted something.  It was love at first sight.  The shower curtain.  Hey, I played it cool when I saw it.  I didn’t even take my phone out and start taking pictures.  I didn’t want to act like a complete weirdo.  I just stared at it and tried to take mental pictures.  I knew right away I had to make a quilt pattern based on the design.  I know…It’s a sickness.  I can’t help it.  Really.
I spent all day yesterday playing with some new fabric {gorgeous fabric} and I was able to recreate my vision.  So far I have 3 blocks made.
The best part of this whole story…the current Project Quilting Challenge is square in a square.  It just so happens that my idea fits perfectly in this category.  Now, I’m not going to have time to make a complete quilt before Sunday so I think I’ll do something smaller for now.  Maybe a table topper or wall hanging.

I am convinced that I need to make a regular size quilt with this particular pattern because I really love it!  I can’t wait to put the blocks together and show you all the completed version of the design.  I think you will love it too.

I’ve also been playing with Roscoe and trying out some new quilting designs.  Roscoe got new wheels for Christmas and I am loving them.  He runs across the tracks soooo smooth!  I even tried my hand at some pebbling.  I think it turned out pretty good.  I just need a little more practice.

I also played around with some flowers.

And I’ve been practicing some more swirly things.  I think these are my favorite.

I learned these techniques from Angela Walters.  I signed up for her Craftsy.com class.  I’ve learned so much!  I can’t wait to put it all to good use.

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow.  Frugal Friday will be back.  I have to admit I’ve been lazy the last 2 weeks and didn’t post Frugal Friday.  No more laziness.  It’s time to get back to work.  See you tomorrow!

  1. Very nice block! I don’t know how big your blocks are, but if you think it’s close enough to the shower curtain design, maybe some of these put together would make a nice bathroom floor mat for your friend? Maybe backed with a towel to make it quick drying?

  2. I am crazy in love with that fabric and the design so far!!! And hello gorgeous quilting. I am looking into the serger class on Craftsy but I’m going to wait until later this year to take it.
