Easy Pillowcase Pattern Using a Charm Pack

I’ve been dying to try out some of the new fabrics we got a couple weeks ago.  Today I decided to use one of the Simply Color charm packs and make a pillowcase.  I used the same construction concept that I demonstrated in my easy pillowcase pattern.  However, I did change up the construction of the cuff.

In this post I’ll show you how I constructed the cuff.  {Please reference the original easy pillowcase pattern post to obtain the complete pattern.}

First, I divided my charm pack into two groups.  20 charms per group.

Next, I cut each charm in half.

I stacked the charms in two piles for easy sewing.

Next, I sewed the charms together to make 2.5″ x 9.5″ rectangles.

I pressed the seams open.

I made 20 rectangles like this one.

Then I figured out how I wanted the colors arranged and sewed them together into one long strip that measured 9.5″ x 40.5.”

**The original pattern calls for an 11″ wide cuff.  A cuff made of charms will only be 9.5″ wide but it still works out just fine.

The rest of the construction can be found in the original pattern so I’m not going to repeat it all here.  No need to be redundant.
Here’s a look at the finished pillowcase.

I used my favorite white muslin for the body of the pillowcase.  It’s made by Moda and has a 200 thread count so it’s super soft and cuddly.  Perfect for a pillowcase.  The best part is you can get 2 pillowcases out of one charm pack.

  3. You might say I love making pillowcases! I made them in a travel size for the GK’s. I hope they bring an extra suitcase, as there are 35 for each of them, LOL! I am saving your idea for the cuff, adorable.
